| For New Players |
Welcome to our LARP, or at least our website. This is Springfield: Lost Homes, a Mind's Eye Theatre based roleplay that takes place in a grim and supernaturally infested version of our own world. You have been stolen. You have returned. But you aren't the same, and neither is the world you've returned to. Prepare to fight tooth and nail and sometimes horn for freedom and identity. And probably fight some werewolves, too.
New players are a constant source of delight. Any of the GMs will be happy to help you out with character concept and creation. You may contact us online to talk about your ideas at changeling(dot)larp(at)gmail(dot)com. We will also be waiting from five o'clock onward (game begins at seven...ish) in Seelye on Smith campus on Saturday, September 26th. We don't say no very often, so feel free to go through any of the WoD source material if you have access, or just begin to puzzle out what you'd like to play.
We'll see everyone on Saturday, third floor of Seelye Hall, Smith Campus, starting at six for character creation and hanging out. Read on for some character building suggestions. |

| In game location: |
Essentially, Springfield is not a good setting for this game. It's too big, too homogeneous, and too chaotic to run a story that feels at all reasonable. Travel time would be torturous if we kept it in any way reasonable, and the huge population of faceless mooks is hard to impress upon the characters and plot. While it might be horrifying to have the characters not be able to keep track of the size and scope of events and locations, it's not fun for very long, and when the GMs are lost, too, it becomes a muddle.
Most importantly, though, Springfield is too much a real place. The city in game bears little or no resemblance to the real town and none of us knows the area well enough to remedy that. There's not much point to the setting being real if we're just going to rewrite it any way we want.
In game, the summer queen has announced a tactical retreat from the dangerous, indefensible location of the Freehold. The seat of the Freehold will be retreating to a small, nearby town (the map and makeup of which will soon be available to players) to regroup and reconsider defense. The new town is a generalized twenty minute drive if traveling by non-magical means.
You will not be forced to leave the old stories and locations entirely behind. Remember the use of doors in the hedge, particularly in hollows. One door can take you from your new home to your hollow, another to the heart of springfield. Doors can also be tied to hedge locations outside hollows, such as the Maramopolis or The Rock Garden, should you want to continue your access to the inhabitants. Note that we won't be forcing players to create their own doors if they don't want to. Various NPCs will have such routes open, if you ask around.
Characters may continue to live and work in Springfield if they desire. Our current base of players were mostly commuting or working at home anyway, so there won't be much of a shift.
We'll be taking this opportunity to make sure we know for certain where and how the characters are living. We're looking for any information on your new living quarters, any changes to your hollow, etc. This will lead to more elaborate contacts and networks for your character as we build our own city. Make friends at the police department, historical society, and city hall.
We'll be sending emails about any new circumstances to currently active players in the next few days. Keep an eye out. |

| After the Summer |
We of the staff would like to make the first game as seamless, personal, and entertaining as possible. As such, we'd like to hear from all players on all characters, old and new. Chat with us about old plot, new plot, ideas you may or may not have. We'll be addressing pretty much every character concept on an individual basis, so no matter how crazy the idea (we MAY draw the line at Promethiwerechangepires), bounce it off us! More behind the cut.
GMs can be reached at changeling.larp(at)gmail.com. Individual GMs may be contacted as follows:
Siobhan: israfel1030(at)gmail.com
Claire: cnadeau(at)email.smith.edu
Jason: emanehtnignillik(at)aol.com (But don't bother, really. He fails at internet. Get one of the other GMs to poke him if you need him.) |

| Out of Character Posting |
| Please do not post out of character remarks in the middle of threads. It is distracting. If you have an out of character question for the STs or a specific player, please PM him/her/us. If you have a related OOC question for the masses, please start a new thread. |

| Downtime Time! |
Well, you've all gotten through your first game, good times were had and such.
Now, besides chatting up the forums I'm sure you're all wondering: "What can my character do during the time between games?"
The answer is, well, whatever seems reasonable. And in the context of a world full of mad fairies and human simulacrums, a lot is reasonable. Downtime Actions are probably one of the most valuable tools a character can possess. This is where those Retainers, Allies, and Contacts you've spent those precious points on earn their keep, and this is the time for travel, pesky chores, and bothering all your favorite NPCs.
For sanity, and neatness, please put DTA in the subject of the email containing your downtime.
Important - All Downtime Actions must be in by the Tuesday before game

| Character Quizzes! |
New Questions!
To help the STs keep track of where your characters can generally be found during downtime/ where we can hit you with plot, we would appreciate answers to the following questions:
Where does your character currently reside?
Where does your character work?
What clubs or associations (changeling or mortal) is your character a member of?
Please click "read more" to see the player and character quizzes. It's not mandatory, but it will help us tailor our game to your wants and needs. Completed quizzes should be sent to changeling.larp (at) gmail.com. Thank you! |

| Online Check-in |
Ok people, with the exception of Goblin Market purchases which will be handled in game, all XP expenditures will be handled online.
The e-mail to do this is changeling.larp at gmail dot com
Important - All XP expenditures must be in by Tueday before game.
Exceptions are on a case by case basis, but in general they won't be factored in after Wednesday if they aren't already in or being addressed.
For your records, you will receive 3XP per game that you attend, with an additional 1XP if you send in a PEL and it's useful. A more detailed description of "useful" lies beyond the "read more" button.

| Forum Access and etc. |
Ok since this has come up recently this should be addressed as publicly as possible. The only way to be added to a private forum is to have someone from within the forum, or the person in charge of that forum add you to it.
